Match - Burgers & Martinis, Back Bay

Carnivores beware: You won’t find quarter-pound bacon double-cheeseburgers on the menu here. Instead, Match serves up sophisticated (yes!) mini burgers and cocktails, and rounds up the menu with unlikely burger accompaniments like prosciutto-wrapped asparagus spears and lobster bisque. This is the perfect place for a night out with friends - fun, and serving just enough food to fortify you for some good cocktails.
As their name plainly tells you, they suggest that you pair their mini burgers with a martini. I first chose their Bubbletini because the menu said “Ladies only!” and I wanted to know why. It was pink. It tasted like bubble gum. Meh - what did I expect? However, my next drink (a plain old dry martini) was fine (and by fine, I mean strong).
The large room is packed with leather seats and simple tables giving it a bit of swanky cafeteria feel. A large fireplace display dominates the back wall adding to the warmth of the brown and taupe decor. Don’t be fooled by the casual elegant vibe, this place is meant to impress - dress accordingly.
For those in your party that refuse to mess with mini burgers, they offer full-size entrees like a 10 oz filet mignon and blackened salmon - but what’s the fun in that? Bring your friends and try something new.

After growing up in Santo Domingo, studying in Granada (Spain), and working her way up the east coast, she now calls the Boston area home. Some of her favorite travel adventures include crossing the desert by camel in Morocco, dancing Sevillanas at the Feria in Seville, and lounging on the beach at Ipanema. But give her a comfy bed and a good book and she’s happy anywhere – especially at home with her husband and son.
