Coolidge Corner- Brookline (Beacon Street)

Until the late 1800’s when a streetcar route was built on Beacon Street, Coolidge Corner was more rural than urban. Once the streetcar sliced it’s way through the section, more and more people began to discover the area. Now this neighborhood is filled with shops, restaurants, and one Art Deco style theater.
The things that interest me the most are the thrift stores and boutiques that are peppered through the area. Grab a friend and be prepared to try on silly hats, homemade scarves, and designer dresses. Visit them all- each has its own charm. And, go back often. Their merchandise changes frequently.
If shopping get’s you hungry, visit Anna’s Taqueria at 1412 Beacon Street. Their burritos are large and filling.I washed mine down with peach nectar. If you want coffee it is hard to find a non-chain coffee shop but Starbucks is always a good bet, especially if you get to sit in the big comfy chair by the window.
Another shop worth visiting is Best Cellar’s, a hip wine boutique. I love wine, but I am by no means an expert. All the bottles are well labeled and described and the staff is knowledgeable. They also have free tastings and offer discounts on the bottles that are featured.
